A DAD-of-two from Colchester has turned a hobby into a business which has gone from strength to strength.

Tony Elliott started Becton Detailing Supplies last year and said the idea for the business was “manifested from an obsession with always having a clean car”.

“I’ve used products in the past that I thought weren’t very good and I went hunting for better ones,” said Tony.

The businessman, whose background is as a printer, continued: “I increased my knowledge and built my passion into a business.”

The business is thriving after its first year and it has become a family affair with Tony’s sons Teddy, 15, and Zachary, 11, jumping at the opportunity to support their entrepreneurial dad.

The 40-year-old added: “The whole family gets involved. When we visit trade shows they all come and help me get set up. Zachary has become an expert in designer air fresheners.”

Passionate Tony is proud to have been able to share his knowledge of cleaning products with other car enthusiasts, and he now stocks “anything you can think of that you’d want to clean your car with”.
