A FORMER Colchester MP has said he is “surprised” by Will Quince’s decision to step down from his role.
Sir Bob Russell, who was Colchester’s Liberal Democrat MP for 18 years from 1997 to 2015, said: “I am surprised at this announcement. Being MP for Colchester is a great privilege.
“I wish Mr Quince, and his family, all the best for the future.”
Mr Quince succeeded Sir Bob in 2015 having secured a majority of more than 4,000 votes over his rival.
