A COLCHESTER restaurant is looking to welcome new customers after undergoing a name change.
Roxi Bistro, which is located in the High Street, is owned by married couple and business partners Ugur Hirani and Beril Barlas.
Ugur manages the day-to-day aspects of the business while Beril owns the lease and the company.
When Ugur first took on the business, it was part of the Poppins café chain.
However, after deciding to no longer operate under the Poppins brand the couple have opted to reinvent the eatery when its franchise agreement expired.
The site has since re-emerged under a new business identity.
Despite its changes, the newly christened Roxi Bistro still offers breakfasts for customers.
They also have a set Turkish menu for lunch time, as well as other cuisines including Italian and Greek.
While primarily serving Mediterranean cuisine, Roxi Bistro uses local produce where possible.
The change in name, however, has also led to some unfortunate setbacks.
Ugur said: “We don’t have a lot of customers at the moment, mostly because of the lack of knowledge and advertisement.”
According to Ugur, many Poppins customers stopped coming to the establishment after the rebrand, saying it is “too posh.”
The restaurant is open for business from Wednesday to Sunday and last orders are accepted one hour before closing time.
