TWO new keeper shadowing experiences are coming to Colchester Zoo allowing guests to get close to more species at the attraction.

The zoo has announced it is bringing new keeper shadowing experiences for its Komodo Dragon and Pygmy Hippos.

A spokesman said: “For the Pygmy Hippos, you can go behind the scenes to our private experience area and prepare enrichment for these friendly semi-aquatic mammals.

“As for the Komodo Dragon, guests can prepare enrichment for this incredible species and watch as they stalk around their habitat using a fantastic sense of smell.

“This is the perfect experience for anyone who is passionate about a particular species of animal.

“Offering you the chance to enjoy a personal experience with your favourite species from our selected shadowing experiences, this makes a great gift for a loved one or simply a treat for yourself.”

The experiences include a private half hour close up experience with your chosen animal and a member of the animal care team, alongside a refreshment voucher, souvenir gift and complimentary entry to the zoo for the whole day.
