A COLCHESTER care home poet with dementia shared her rhyming creations with elderly residents and youngsters.
Joan, who lives at Howard Court care home, recently visited Loganberry Lodge and the Monkey Puzzle day nursery.
During both of her visits, Joan performed poems which showcase the journey of her life.
While at Loganberry Lodge, the writer shared her poetry during the home's latest dementia café.
The monthly event brings the community together to understand how dementia affects their loved ones while enjoying a cup of coffee.
This month’s dementia café took place during Dementia Action Week, which provided Loganberry Lodge with an opportunity to educate and inform in unique ways.
Joan, said: “I want to thank Loganberry Lodge for inviting me, it is such a joy to share my poems with the children.”
This is not the only fun activity undertaken by Loganberry Lodge residents in recent months.
In August 2022, residents from the home attended the Fordham Car Show.
Sam Stocks, care assistant at Loganberry Lodge care home, said: “It was so lovely to see the residents enjoying their time with the children, Joan was fantastic and is a true inspiration.”
