COLCHESTER boasts plenty of picturesque attractions to enjoy a special outing.

We asked some of our loyal readers where they believed was the most romantic spot in Colchester.

Terry Reddy chose Cymbeline Meadows, a working farm owned by Colchester Council.

Located near the city centre, Cymbeline Meadows offers a variety of fields, meadows and woodlands to enjoy a stroll or picnic.

However, Terry acknowledged that Colchester was beautiful everywhere and a wonderful place to grow up in after the Second World War.

Meanwhile, Georges Pudman also went for a historical route albeit a little different to Terry’s suggestion.

He offered up Colchester Castle and its grounds, which are a prominent tourist destination with beautiful scenery.

The castle dates back to the 11th century, during the Norman period.

Marc Humphreys, however, brought up High Woods Country Park.

The park has plenty of nice backdrops to make a date even more romantic.

Whether you prefer a lake-side walk, Nordic walking trail or community garden.

Or, if walking isn’t your thing, there are also ample cycling routes within the park.

In fact, the majority of the park’s paths can be used for cycling except the Easy Access Trail.

Elizabeth Boyer went for Upper Castle Park as her wedding photos were taken there.

Other residents, however, were not quite as positive about romantic spots in Colchester.

To this, Linda Foloreos responded: “How sad! I moved to Colchester from London. It has a very nice countryside accessible from several sides of the town.

“A very pleasant park and only a short ride to the sea. You don’t know when you’re well off!”
