A DISUED space in Colchester city centre has been cleared in preparation for a revamp.

The Colchester Business Improvement District has been leading a special clearing project of Painters Yard, a currently unutilized space between Firstsite and Curzon, enabling the space to be brought back into use.

On Thursday the BID Team worked alongside Colchester Civic Society volunteers and Labour councillor Pam Cox to embark on a community clean as part of the BID’s initiative, Operation Clean Colchester.

The site, belonging to Colchester City Council, is now clean and ready for local authorities to adapt for use as they see fit.

Sam Good, manager of Our Colchester BID, said: "This space has a lot of very exciting potential and the BID team is happy to assist in the development of this space for future use.

“There are some plans in the works, and we are very excited to share these with you once they have been given the go-ahead.

“Colchester Community Clean sessions are open to everyone in the city centre.
