A BABY fox which was trapped underground in Colchester has been rescued after firefighters dug around a pipe to save the cub.

Crews were called to help the RSPCA in Turner Road, Colchester at 12.36pm yesterday afternoon after there were concerns for a fox which was trapped in an underground pipe.

Firefighters from Essex County Fire and Rescue’s urban search and rescue team were called, and firefighters used a camera to see where the fox was trapped in the pipe.

Crews then worked together to dig around the pipe, and the cub was freed just under 90 minutes later, at 1.55pm.

The fox was left in the care of the RSPCA.
