COLCHESTER Castle Park is often utilised as a superb outdoor space allowing thousands of residents to gather for a variety of events.
This year, the slate of activities and shows looks amazing, with renowned superstars set to return, drinks to be chugged and cars to be displayed.
Here are the biggest events coming to Castle Park this year:
Summer Social
The Summer Social will run over four days from August 10-13 and will include tribute acts, movie sessions, kids parties and more.
Thursday, August 10, will see a screening of the 2022 Elvis movie. Main actor Austin Butler was nominated for an Oscar in this film.
On Friday, August 11, the Kids Movie Club will be available with screenings of Matilda the Musical and The Greatest Showman.
Friday evening will have classics like Grease and Child’s Play on the big screen.
The Ibiza Live festival is set for Saturday, August 12, bringing Ibiza DJs to the heart of Colchester as well as a Top Gun screening and Avi80rs live performance.
Sunday will see the Summer Social close out with a Kidz Bop event in the park.

Olly Murs
Superstar Olly Murs is returning to Colchester for his Marry Me Tour with a performance on Sunday, August 27.
His seventh album, Marry Me, was released on December 2.
Olly said: “[I am] back with a fresh mind, fresh enthusiasm and fresh confidence”.
Anti Loo Roll Festival
The Anti Loo Roll festival will take place on September 9 and the main stage in Castle Park will feature a host of live entertainment including headliners Lemar and Rick Parfitt Jnr Band.
Essex Classic Car Show
Motorists are in for a treat as the Essex Classic Car Show is returning to Colchester on September 24.
The show will feature more than 250 classic vehicles on display with a combined history of more than 7,000 years.
Crafts, gifts and food stalls will also be available with more entertainment for the whole family.
Oktoberfest
Colchester Castle Park will host one of Europe’s largest beer tents for the upcoming Oktoberfest on October 28.
The Bavarian style festival will see attendees enjoy oompah bands from around the world, bratwurst and steins.
Enlightened Trail
Events in Castle Park will close out with the Enlighted trail throughout December.
Embodying the seasonal spirit, guests will experience enchanting moments as they stroll along a specially crafted route and marvel at the dazzling installations.
