A SUPERCAR once owned by legendary musician Sir Elton John is set to go under the hammer in Colchester.
The Aston Martin Virage is expected to fetch between £12,000 and £14,000 when it goes on sale at Reeman Dansie auctioneers on April 28.
The luxury car was ordered new by Sir Elton, 76, and kitted out with a bespoke Sony sound system at a cost of almost £5,000.
Made to his personal requests, the Aston Martin was finished in a Rolls Royce colour of Seychelles blue and finished off with a blue piped cream leather interior.
Only 426 Virages were made between 1988 and 1995, with the music icon forking out £129,950 to get his hands on one.
Sir Elton eventually sold the car in 1997 and it was shifted between private owners before passing to its current keeper following the death of his father.

Auctioneer Lewis Rabett said the Virage offers any buyer the opportunity of an “amazing project”.
“It is an amazing car, a special order Sir Elton specifically asked for and the colour suits the car so well. It still looks a million dollars,” said the auctioneer.
“In recent years it has had a harder time and not given the love it needs but it is an amazing project to take on.
“The history is something you can’t replace so it is a great car to work on.
“It is nice to have another world renowned person’s car at our auction house.”
The car, which comes with a personalised number plate, boasts an automatic gear box and just 14,000 miles on the clock.
It is joined in Reeman Dansie’s classic cars auction by another vehicle with links to Sir Elton.
A 1977 Lincoln Continental Spitzer used in the Sir Elton biopic movie Rocketman is also up for grabs and expected to sell for up to £8,000.
The luxury vehicle features a Cartier digital clock and fell into the hands of Reeman Dansie after an American car enthusiast died.
Mr Rabett added: “It is a really impressive car.”
