EXCITING plans to create a new play area in a Colchester park have been revealed.

Colchester Council is looking to replace the popular play park which has now reached the end of its life.

A number of new designs have been put forward featuring climbing frames, swings, balance beams and Ninja themed items.

The council has invited leading specialist companies to compete, offering their vision of the park’s redesigned layout.

Four entries have been shortlisted, offering an exciting mix of equipment, including specialised equipment accessible to all ages and mobility levels.

The plans include different equipment for a variety of ages to keep little ones entertained.

The designs are currently on display at the High Woods Country Park Visitor Centre, with the council encouraging residents and park visitors to vote for their favourite design.

The consultation period runs until April 24, with all residents encouraged to vote on their favourite design at the visitor’s centre.

The country park is one of Colchester’s most beloved beauty spots, providing residents with an expansive green space that offers opportunities to relax, play and walk.

The expansive park offers waymarked paths for walking and cycling, as well as an impressive fishing lake. It can be accessed via a car park or public transport.

Martin Goss, portfolio holder for neighbourhood services and waste, said: “Outdoor play is vital for children’s health and wellbeing so investment in improved play facilities is money well spent.
