ESSEX Police are appealing for information in relation to several crimes which were committed across Colchester and its surrounding areas recently.

Here is a round-up of the latest crimes.

Incident: On Friday, April 7, officers were called to Barfield Road at around 12.30pm, in West Mersea, following reports of a collision involving a car and motorcycle.

An air ambulance was in attendance, with the motorcyclist taken to hospital, where he remained in critical condition.

Incident: On Monday, April 10, at around 12.45am, police arrested four people after a Range Rover was stolen. The arrests were made within 20 minutes of the theft being reported.

Police were called to the incident in Elthorne Park, Clacton, where the owner was then able to provide officers with live-time locations for the vehicle, thanks to to a tracking system. Within 20 minutes, officers located the stolen vehicle in Heron Glade.

The vehicle was found empty, but officers had received information that a number of people had recently left the vehicle.

They then conducted a search of the area with help from the Essex Police dog section and a police helicopter.

Officers then located the four men, each aged between 18 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

During a further search of the area, three knives and an imitation firearm were found, with each weapon being seized.

Three of the men were further arrested on suspicion of going equipped, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a knife or bladed article in a public place, as well as a firearms offence.

Incident: Two officers were injured and a man was arrested after a vehicle failed to stop for officers on Monday, April 10, at 1.40pm, on Woodham Mortimer, close to Maldon.

Intelligence suggested that vehicle was of interest in part of an ongoing investigation into threats to kill, and firearm and weapons offences.

When a request was made for the vehicle to stop, the Audi A3 did not.

A police vehicle then pursued the Audi, which was being driven erratically, through Ulting and Hatfield Peverel.

The vehicle then joined the northbound A12, subsequently exiting the road at Witham, where the police vehicle continued to follow safely.

When it was safe to do so and there was no risk to the public, a police vehicle positioned itself in front of the Audi, where the pursuit came to an end.

As officers attempted to arrest the man, two sustained injuries, with officers being treated by medics. A man was then arrested, who was treated by medics.

Incident: Police are investigating an incident in Colchester, during which a teenage girl was approached and grabbed by a man, whilst she was walking on Berechurch Road, shortly before 6pm on Tuesday, April 11.

She reported that a man who had passed her was now walking behind her, soon after grabbing her around the face. Thankfully, she was able to flee the area and was not harmed.  Essex Police are now investigating the incident.
