AN award-winning theatre company is set to dazzle audiences with a live action rendition of a Shakespearean classic.

From the creative minds of the award-winning theatre company imitating the dog, the reimagined rendition of Macbeth will use striking video technology to depict Shakespeare’s tale of ambition, betrayal and downfall.

Last year, imitating the dog brought its production of Dracula: The Untold Story to the Mercury, which then went on to win the UK Theatre Award for Best Design.

The reimagined version of the classic spins the tale as a neon-noir thriller, where the original language collides with startling new scenes, dazzling visuals and a new-found intensity.

Andrew Quick, Macbeth co-director and artistic director of imitating the dog, said: “Macbeth is an extraordinary play. Shakespeare’s exploration of power, ambition, violence and love seems so relevant to today.

“We’re excited to be bringing Macbeth to the Mercury Theatre. It is a unique take on the original play, a Macbeth as you have never seen before, but still with Shakespeare’s story at its heart.”

The live-action Macbeth play will run at the Mercury Theatre from Tuesday, April 18, until Thursday, April 20.
