FIRE crews are working alongside emergency services to recover vehicles following a serious A12 crash involving eight vehicles.

Crews are currently at the scene of the crash on the A12, Feering Northbound after being called to reports of a multi-vehicle collision at 4.27pm.

On arrival, crew members reported eight vehicles had collided including four HGVs and several of the HGVs have jackknifed and are blocking the road.

Nobody was trapped inside their vehicles and crews are working alongside partners to recover the vehicles.

Neil Fenwick, area manager at Essex Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We’re at the scene of an eight vehicle road traffic collision on the A12, Feering Northbound.

“Thankfully nobody was trapped inside their vehicles and we’re working as quickly as we can with our partners to get everybody moving safely.

“We expect to be here for several hours while crews assist partners with the recovery of the vehicles.”

This follows a police update which stated emergency services were working to organise diversions for approaching vehicles.

A spokesman for Essex Police added: “We are currently on the scene of a serious collision involving multiple vehicles on the A12, between junction 24 (Kelvedon) and Junction 25 (Marks Tey) after being called around 4.20pm. 

“We remain at the scene with other emergency services and traffic diversions will be put in place shortly.”
