DAVE Huzzey will continue with his first-team coaching duties at Colchester United.

The U's transition and under-21 lead coach will assist boss Ben Garner until at least the end of the season, alongside Scott Marshall and goalkeeper coach, Graham Stack.

Huzzey had previously worked as Wayne Brown's assistant along with Joe Dunne, prior to Matt Bloomfield's arrival in September.

He then reverted back to his academy coaching role but has been on the bench alongside Garner for his first two games in charge, having also assisted Ross Embleton during his interim spell along with Elliott Ward.

Garner said: “Dave has stepped up until the end of the season.

“I like to work with two assistants and we do a lot of unit work and individual work.

“Dave has been invaluable in terms of his knowledge of the club and the young players.

“He’s a really good coach and he’s got a real desire to learn and improve, which I like.

“He’ll definitely be with us until the end of the season and then we’ll assess things, moving into next season.”

Huzzey was appointed as Colchester's academy manager in August, 2019.

However, the former Southend United under-23 coach has also had plenty of first-team coaching experience and will be aiming to make his mark, alongside Garner and Marshall.
