A MAN was left with injuries to his head and face after he was assaulted by three men in Colchester.

Essex Police closed off parts of Sir Isaacs Walk, near Head Street, with several marked vehicles on the scene and a cordon in place this morning.

One business owner said officers looked to be "preserving" a crime scene, with police on site when he arrived at work at 7.15am.

He said the cordon was being lifted at around 12.30pm.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the force is investigating an assault, releasing an appeal to identify three men.
