Rural businesses in and around Colchester suffering spike' in burglaries, police say (Image: Newsquest)
RURAL businesses in and around the Colchester area are suffering from a concerning spike in burglaries, according to Essex Police.
Officers from the Colchester Community Policing Team were deployed to the likes of Marks Tey, Great Tey and Peldon on Thursday night.
During their patrol they stopped vans and vehicles in response to an increasing number of farms, pubs and construction businesses being burgled.
A spokesman for the force said: “Please report any suspicious vehicles or people - trust your instincts if something seems out of the ordinary.
“If you have any information about who may be targeting these businesses please let Essex Police know.”
