A DJ with 15 years of experience has shared his tale of humble beginnings in Colchester clubs as he prepares to play at a prestigious event in London.

Scott Dewing has been a club DJ for more than 15 years, playing in Colchester for most of that time, seeing many venues within the city come and go.

But this year he will perform at the prestigious Mayfair Hotel in London.

Scott has played all over Colchester, including some venues which are no longer running such as Bar Nineteen, Circle and Route Nightclub.

He played his first gig at Qube on Crouch Street, now Truth, however, he believes he is best known for his residency at Slug and Lettuce in Colchester High Street, where he played for five years.

His final three year residency, before breaking into the wedding industry, was at Silk Road on Queen Street.

During his time on the Colchester nightclub circuit, Scott gained quite a following, which he attributes to the style of music he played, dubbed Kisstory.

The Kisstory genre spans multiple decades and music styles, including hits from the 90s, 2000s, RnB, House, Garage, dance anthems and other chart toppers which are trending in the UK.

Since making his way into the wedding industry, he has become a recommended supplier for Milsom Hotels and Restaurants, including the Talbooth, Talbooth House and Spa and Kesgrave Hall.

During 2022, he performed at more than 100 weddings across Essex. This year, he will debut at the prestigious Mayfair Hotel.

Scott will also be hosting his own event later this month, following several requests from members of the public.

He said: “Unfortunately, due to me solely DJing weddings and corporate events, the general public, until now, have been unable to attend the events I DJ.

So, following several requests, I’ve created a night which will be taking place at The Colchester Rugby Stadium.

The event is called ‘DJ Scott Dewing & Friends. For tickets and more information, visit bit.ly/3IEFccI.
