A MOTORIST who was seen swerving and speeding up to 85mph has been fined.
James Johnson, 56, was driving a Honda on the A12 at Colchester at the time of the offence on March 23 last year.
Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard he was “unable to maintain a constant speed or direction” as he swerved between lanes and his speed varied from 50mph to 85mph.
Johnson, of Westbourne Road, Ipswich, admitted driving without due care or attention.
He was fined £292 and ordered to pay £144 in a surcharge and costs.
Johnson was also handed three penalty points.
