A busy A12 sliproad is set to be closed for three weeks while upgrade work is carried out.

The A12 northbound exit slip road, at junction 26 for Stanway, is set to shut from 9pm on Friday March 10.

It will reopen on April 3.

A diversion will be in place for drivers who would usually use the exit sliproad.

Ongoing closures at junction 25 for Marks Tey remain until March.

A diversion route will be in place while the junction is closed.

The work being undertaken is part of ongoing upgrade work.

A letter sent to residents from project manager Martin Collings said: "This is so we can safely remove the concrete road surface and its foundations, before rebuilding the road and resurfacing it with asphalt.

"Once complete, this will improve safety, create a smoother quieter journey, and extend the life of the road to make it fit for the future.

"A fully signed diversion route will be in place during these closures, please see the ‘diversion route’ section below for more information.

"To keep disruption to a minimum, we’ve shared our plans with our colleagues in Essex Highways to avoid clashes with any roadworks they may be planning.

"We’re sorry for the delays these closures may cause to your journey and encourage drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling."

Traffic will be diverted along the A12 to junction 27 for Spring Lane, where it will exit and continue to the Spring Lane Roundabout.

From there, it will be diverted back to the southbound A12, where drivers can exit at junction 26.

Lane repairs on the A12 between junction 25 at Marks Tey is set to remain until Friday, March 17, with works taking place during weeknights.
