A FUNDRAISING evening of music is set to be staged at a revamped city centre entertainment venue in aid of a charity helping residents in need.

Benefit Gig in aid of Colchester Foodbank will take place at Three Wise Monkeys’ top floor venue in High Street, Colchester on March 10.

The night will feature performances from up and coming alternative rock band Myopia and Ecto Peach, who are the “musical equivalent of middle aged angst”.

The line-up also consists of revered rockers The Rezidents who will open the show with a set of huge songs plucked from the golden age of music.

A spokesman for the show described the bands on the bill as “three of the most popular” groups in the area.

The entrance fee, which is a suggested donation of £5, will be payable on the door on the night of the 8pm fundraising concert.

The money will then be handed to Colchester Foodbank, which is considered to be the busiest and most in demand food bank in Essex.

Last year the non-profit organisation helped feed 13,966 people with three-day emergency food supplies, an increase of 47 per cent since the previous year.
