A BUSINESS is set to close after more than six years following a “significant rise in costs” following the pandemic.

The owners of The Deli in West Mersea have said they will be closing down at the end of the month.

In a statement they said: “It is with great sadness we have to inform all of our wonderful customers that February 28 will be our last day at The Deli.

“The past six and half years have been a blast.

“We have met some incredible characters and made some great friends whilst being able to work in a role that we have loved.

“We have learned so much and given it our all, trying to adapt to everything.

“Unfortunately, with the significant rising costs in our industry and the huge lasting effect of the pandemic we have been left with little choice.

“For the next two weeks, business will resume as usual. Many items will be reduced in price and we will make you all aware of any deals we have running.

“Please continue to support your local businesses.

“We are so fortunate to have some amazing little independent shops and restaurants on the Island and they all need your support now more than ever.”
