A MOTORIST has been arrested after a large-scale manhunt in Colchester.
A white Jaguar was driven past an unmarked police vehicle “well in excess of the speed limit” on Monday.
Police officers were undertaking a patrol in the Hythe and New Town at the time in response to a spate of vehicle crimes in the area.
Despite being required to stop by the officers, the Jaguar motorist sped on in an attempt to evade the law.
A police spokesman said: “The officers wanted to have a conversation with the driver of the Jaguar so went to find it.
“Sensing the Jaguar was using the area as a bit of a jungle to try and hide, the Community Policing Team called for some help.”
The Local Policing Team and Royal Military Police were called by Colchester’s Community Policing Team to aid the search.
The vehicle was subsequently spotted and brought to a halt safely.
Essex Police said the vehicle was found to have been stolen a few days prior.
Its driver, a 23-year-old man from Colchester, is now under investigation for nine offences.
