A BAND unwavering in their unpredictability crowd-surfed and chucked popcorn seeds over giddy gig-goers during their first show in three years.

Dingus Khan, formed in Manningtree, returned to the live circuit of Colchester on Saturday evening with an intimate performance at Best Days Vintage, in Eld Lane.

Prior to the group taking to the stage, the retro clothes, coffee and vinyl shop filled-out with a crowd of roughly 50 people, all eager to witness their chaotic comeback.

Throughout the show, the Ben Brown-fronted band of “sweaty, swan-bothering border folk from the Stour” worked audience members young and old into a frenzy.

In addition to debuting a new track, they performed songs such as Made A List, Knifey Spoony, and Ambulance, during which they led a choregraphed dance routine.

Shortly into the superbly mental set, drummer Ben Ward even climbed onto a slightly wobbly speaker before flinging popcorn seeds over the adoring disciples below.

At one point frontman Ben Brown, draped in his signature blue velvet robe, also turned photographer mid-song before diving into a throng of fans who held him aloft.

A comeback like no other.

Dingus Khan will play at Colchester Arts Centre, in Church Street, on April 23 with tickets costing £10 from colchesterartscentre.com.
