A POPULAR fish and chip shop has been announced as one of the final three for a national award.

Henleys of Wivenhoe has been shortlisted along with two others for the quality accreditation category at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023.

The final three were announced today by the National Federation of Fish Friers.

An anonymous panel of industry judges made the decision to shortlist Henleys of Wivenhoe, Codfellas in Ipswich and The Fish Works in Largs.

After extensive judging, they are through to the final, and will battle it out for the award.

The quality accreditation category celebrates businesses in the UK which give their customers the best quality fish and chips, sponsored by fish-producing company JFK.

The awards have celebrated the nation's favourite dish for the last 30 years, dedicating itself to raising standards and supporting businesses.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by the National Federation of Fish Friers on February 28 at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge.

Comedian and presenter, Jason Manford will present this year’s awards.

The guest list is industry-focused, however, tickets are open to the general public.
