A PENSIONER who crashed into a cyclist twice while trying to overtake them has been punished by magistrates.

Cyril Brooker, 81, made the blundering efforts while behind the wheel of a Nissan Juke on June 7 in Halstead Road, Eight Ash Green.

Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard Brooker failed to overtake a cyclist safely and collided with them twice, causing damage.

Brooker, of Cherrydown East, Basildon, admitted driving without due care and attention and failing to stop.

He was handed eight points on his driving licence and must pay £224 in a fine, surcharge and costs.
