A DELICIOUS Vietnamese restaurant has been handed back its perfect food hygiene rating after swiftly remedying issues.
Bambu, in the Hythe, Colchester, has been handed a five star food hygiene rating after being inspected by an environmental health officer.
Siblings Mai and Kong La, who opened the site in 2016, have now celebrated the news.
It follows a concerning report published last month which ranked the restaurant in Quayside Drive two out of five for its hygiene.
The watchdog revealed no hot water was available during its check and noted a series of minor issues at the building on the bank of the River Colne.
An environmental health officer revisited Bambu on December 1 to carry out a further inspection.
They deemed the restaurant worthy of a five star rating as a result of works done to address issues previously raised.
The building itself was opened after a year-long project championed by the La siblings to transform an empty building into the venue it is today.
Its traditional Vietnamese recipes have proven popular in Colchester ever since.
A statement on its website reads: “Bambu has never ceased to search for new ways to improve whilst keeping the core values at heart.”
