When December comes around many people wonder what the likelihood is that they will end up with a white Christmas.
It's not a very common occurrence nowadays in Colchester, as the south of England experiences milder weather overall than some other parts of the UK.
However, it cannot be ruled out entirely, and with the help of the Met Office's long-range forecasting it can build up a fairly reliable picture of what will be experienced over the month of December.
Will it snow in Colchester in December?
According to the Met Office long-range forecast for the whole of the UK, it appears unlikely that Colchester will see any snowfall before the end of 2022.
From Saturday, December 10 to Monday, December 19 cold weather is expected to continue with "widespread and locally severe overnight frosts".
However, this doesn't seem likely to translate to snow in the area, with it mainly being possible on high ground.

Colchester will see much more "in the way of fine and dry weather" although "limited spells of rain, sleet or snow cannot be ruled out".
Meanwhile, from Tuesday, December 20 to Tuesday, January 3 the weather remains "uncertain" but there are hints of a return to nearer normal temperatures.
This would see "a reducing risk of wintry hazards overall" but severe weather could not be ruled out entirely.
