AN inconsiderate electric dirt bike rider is said to have endangered pedestrians and road users by mounting pavements in a small village and a seaside town.

Essex Police Tendring officers headed to Parkeston and Harwich after receiving several reports of a bike which was being ridden anti-socially.

According to the force, the blue two-wheeler had previously been involved in a crash but was removed from the scene before officers had arrived.

On this occasion, however, the bike was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act due to its rider having no insurance nor a driving licence.

A spokesman for the police said: “Their inconsiderate riding was causing anti-social behaviour to pedestrians and a danger to road users.

“This electric powered dirt bike has a throttle and is way too powerful to be used on public paths and is capable of speeds of 45mph.

“We have had reports this bike has been ridden anti-socially and dangerously throughout Dovercourt and Harwich in recent weeks.

“If anyone sees such a bike being ridden illegally, please report it to use and consider providing any dash cam footage.

“If you’ve witnessed anti-social behaviour, please report it to us online or by calling 101.”
