A man suffered a "deep cut" to his head after being hit with a pool cue at a Rayleigh bar.

Police would like to identify this man in connection with the assault which took place at The Lanes Sports Bar, in High Street, shortly after 8.50pm yesterday.

Police were called by ambulance service to the incident in the business in the town.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We arrived and found a man aged in his 30s had sustained a head injury after being assaulted with a pool cue, causing a deep cut.

"Thankfully, his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening or life-changing. We are now in a position to release an image of a man we would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
