AN X FACTOR finalist from Colchester has been announced to star in a Christmas pantomime.

Stevi Ritchie who appeared on the show in 2014 will be starring in the Weymouth Pavilion’s Christmas production of Sleeping Beauty which will feature a 3D projection.

Ritchie will return to the stage as the role of ‘Jester’ after starring in the UK tour of The Wizard of Oz earlier this year that included a show at the pavilion.

He said: “Jester’s like a best friend to the kids and a little bit crazy.”

The star continued: “Weymouth has a very special place in my heart, I love Weymouth, the pier, the beach, it’s just brilliant,”

Since leaving the X Factor, Colchester's Stevi Ritchie has starred in Celebrity Big Brother and performed in various different pantomimes around the country as well as releasing a single in Japan.

He began performing at 16 and trained at the London School of Musical Theatre and ALRA.

Ritchie said: “It’s in my blood, I can just have a laugh, I love it.”

The fairy-tale show is set to be produced by Enchanted Entertainment who have replaced the Pavilion's former Christmas pantomime producers Made to Measure Productions.

Sleeping Beauty will be at Weymouth Pavilion from the 10th December – 2nd January at 2pm & 6pm.

There will be naughty ‘Adults Only’ shows on January 1 and 2, at 7:30pm, and a ‘Relaxed Performance’ on December 28, specially adapted for those on the autism spectrum, and those with communication or learning disabilities.

Tickets start from £16.50.
