A MAN has been charged with several offences after at least two cars were broken into during the early hours of the morning.

Essex Police officers were called to the Longridge area of Colchester today following reports of a man acting suspiciously.

After being deployed to the scene, the force’s local policing team found a man who matched the description given to them by eyewitnesses.

The officers subsequently conducted a stop and search before finding items they which they believed to have been stolen.

Following a thorough investigation a 37-year-old man from Colchester has been charged with two counts of theft from a motor vehicle.

He will also face one count of fraud and six counts of vehicle interference when he appears at Colchester Magistrates’ Court today.

A spokesman for Essex Police Colchester said: “Please make sure you are locking your cars when they are not in use.”
