MATT Bloomfield has revealed plans are being made by Colchester United ahead of the January transfer window.

But the U's head coach insists his own sole focus is on the short term - and preparing his side for a vital run of games.

Colchester's sporting director Dmitri Halajko said earlier this month that there will be an improved transfer budget for the forthcoming window.

The U's are aiming to move away from League Two danger and while Bloomfield acknowledged that the likes of Halajko and Head of Recruitment Ross Embleton are making plans, the U's boss said all he is concentrating on is the club's forthcoming games - and getting points on the board.

Bloomfield said: "It's really important as a football club that as a head coach, my focus has to be on the short term.

"I'm here to prepare training, deliver training and prepare for games.

"We've got a sporting director, a head of recruitment and a board who obviously have their eyes on the mid and long-term future of the football club.

Gazette:

"That's what they're employed to do and I think it's really important that I don't lose sight of the fact that matches are my thing and players are my thing.

"That's the role of the head coach I would say, to prepare for games and get us ready for games.

"But of course the club know that the January transfer window is around the corner and plans are being made for the football club as well.

"We've always got to think about what's best for us moving forward and for the team.

"It's about preparing for Mansfield and keeping the focus on that.

"After that, we move on to Sutton away and we've got some really good games coming up in December, which we're really looking forward to.

"My sole focus is on that."

Colchester, who currently lie just outside the League Two relegation zone, travel to play Mansfield Town, this weekend.

The U's will be aiming to follow up their convincing 3-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers, in their last league game.
