Liam Mckenna-May talks to former Colchester Sixth Form Student Marco Rhodes about his journey into the music scene and the release of his first ever single.

Meet Marco Rhodes, a young 17-year-old rapper from Jaywick, Essex. Marco previously went to Colchester Sixth Form before he decided to pursue his passion for music.

Marco officially launched his first single successfully on November 11th. I was lucky enough to be able to speak to Marco and here is what he had to say:

“Hi Marco, nice to have you here. So can I ask, what got you into doing music?”

“Hi Liam, good question. Growing up, my dad and I would listen to lots of different genres from different eras and that definitely sparked my love for music. Many artists have given me inspiration like: Kanye West, 2Pac, Biggie, Jay-Z, KRS One, Kendrick, Andre 3000, Dave, Pink Floyd, The Platters, Billie Holiday, Marvin Gaye. I could go on all day, the list goes on and on.”

“Are you working on any  more music, and if so, when can we expect that to be released?”

“Of course, there’s plenty of content written down. It’s just about getting the studio time to execute it now. If all goes well, then early December. I intentionally don’t want to release it closer to Christmas, so if push comes to shove, it’ll most likely be coming out in January.”

“How far do you reckon you can go in the music industry?”

“With talent, dedication and hard work, the sky is the limit. I’m producing music that could connect with everyone from around the world. I’m writing stuff that many people have experienced in their lives , and as soon as you connect with people through your music, that certainly gives you the edge compared to the others. I’m looking forward to progressing on my journey.”

“And finally, where can we stream “Feelin’ it too?”

“Literally anywhere and everywhere. Just search up “Feelin’ it too Marco Rhodes” and you’ll be able to listen to it. And please do. Countless hours of work went into this project, and I think listeners will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.”
