A CRIMINAL from Colchester has been slammed behind bars after committing several offences in the city.

Joseph Waters, of no fixed abode, appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday after being arrested and interviewed the day before.

During his appearance at the court, he faced charges of vehicle interference and theft of a motor vehicle, in addition to two counts of fraud by false representation.

The 31-year-old admitted all of the offences and was sentenced to a total of eight months in prison.

Waters was also ordered to pay more than £200 in court fees and victim compensation.

A spokesman for Essex Police Colchester said: “Following his arrest on Saturday, Joseph Waters was interviewed and charged with the above offences.

“He appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday and has been jailed after admitting to a number of offences within Colchester.”
