COLCHESTER’S beloved town hall is hosting a Christmas market promising to be bigger and better than ever.

The vent will feature 50 stallholders, live entertainment from performing elves and free mince pies.

The free two-day event will offer visitors a unique opportunity to buy exclusive gifts and treats for their friends and family, whilst revelling in some early seasonal joy.

Organised by Colchester Events, the Christmas market will bring together artists, craftspeople, growers, makers and producers from the area, giving them the opportunity to showcase and sell their goods.

The event will be held inside three town hall venues - the Mayoral Suite, the Moot Hall and the Old Library turning the Colchester landmark into a winter wonderland over the course of the weekend.

An enormous selection of locally sourced and made goods will be on offer, giving residents a chance to purchase everything from decorations and hampers, to pet products, jewellery, skincare, textiles, pottery and candles.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy free entertainment, including aerial elves and a festive bar serving mulled wine and other seasonal refreshments.

Adam Fox, deputy leader of Colchester Council said: “The Town Hall Christmas Gift Market goes from strength to strength and it’s great to see so many local stallholders returning for a second year alongside new producers and craftspeople.

“With added entertainment, and the outdoor street food market joining forces, it offers residents yet another exciting Christmas event to enjoy.

“Last year, we welcomed over 4,000 visitors over the weekend, and we look forward to welcoming even more this year.”

Adding to the joy, this year’s event coincides with the Colchester High Street street food market, with local favourites, Peck, Mex Appeal, Gourmet Yorkshire Wraps, Manna Grill and Kezmet.

There will also be stalls from Ravenous Fudge, Twisted Treats and an array of stalls selling festive favourites, such as mulled wine and chestnuts.

The Christmas Gift Market will take place at the town hall on the High Street, on Saturday, November 26 and Sunday, November 27, from 10am, till 5pm each day.
