Christmas is six weeks away, and that means people are starting to get their plans in place for the festive season.

Colchester’s Christmas market will be an undoubted crowd pleaser, but slightly further out of town, Colchester Zoo will also be putting on an array of Christmas activities.

Santa Experience

Taking place each weekend from Saturday, November 26, the Santa Experience will see youngsters enjoy all the festive scenery alongside all of Santa’s elves.

The experience will then, of course, culminate in meeting Father Christmas himself, after which children can take home their own ‘Poco the sloth’ soft toy.

The Santa Experience then runs from Saturday, December 17 every day up to and including Christmas Eve.

Plenty of other activities are on offer too, including the Santa’s Reindeer Stable – where families can meet Father Christmas’s reindeer – and the Elves Workshop, where children can find out just how presents are made before they go into our stockings.

Tickets, which are on sale now, can be bought here.

Enchanted Trail of Light

Colchester Zoo closes at 4.30pm most days, but in the run-up to Christmas, it will be reopening at 5.30pm to provide a host of illuminations to leave families feeling enchanted as Christmas Day approaches.

Colchester Zoo will reopen at 5.30pm on the evenings of December 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, and 23 for the Enchanted Trail of Light experience, and Tendring Brass Brand will also be in situ on selected evenings to reel off some Christmas classics.

Tickets, which cost £10 each, are available here.
