A YOUTH club is asking for more volunteers after children turned up to a closed building.

Tiptree Youth Club is looking for more people to volunteer their time to keep the club running.

The group, run by Tiptree Youth Project Outreach, began one year ago to encourage youngsters to get involved in more activities.

In the week before half term, “staff absence and unplanned availability” lead to the club being closed with short notice.

Andy Butt, who runs the club said: “Apologies to anyone who tried to come along and found the building closed.

“Staff absence and unplanned unavailability at the youth service meant the booked cover was not able to attend and run the youth club session as planned.

“We hope this was a one off, but will try harder to make sure this doesn't happen again in the future.”

The club relies on volunteers to grow and flourish and they hope more people will reach out to join.

Volunteers help with setting up and packing down the club, planning sessions, kitchen work and talking to young people.

The youth club is held every Wednesday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm during term time at 1a Caxton Close, Tiptree, Colchester, CO5OUP.
