A FOOTBALLING icon famed for scoring a hat-trick in England’s 1966 World Cup victory will talk about his illustrious career at a Colchester venue.

An Evening with Sir Geoff Hurst, back by popular demand, will be staged at the city centre’s Mercury Theatre, in Balkerne Gate, this Saturday evening.

During the event, the West Ham United legend will sit down with good friend and agent Terry Baker for an in-depth but always light-hearted interview.

The 80-year-old striker will also happily answer questions put to him by the audience, a segment of the show which has been praised by guests at other venues.

Sir Geoff said: “We did six shows in June 2018/19 and had such a great time, that we wanted to repeat the experience - it was great fun and really well received.

“We are looking forward to getting out and about and meeting the fans of England and hopefully a few West Ham fans as well.

“It’s always interesting to have a laugh with the people that have supported football for all these years - I’ve hopefully got an interesting story to tell.

“Little did I know that on the July 30 in 1966 when I was lucky enough to score my World Cup final hat trick, people would still be asking about it 56 years later.”
