PRIMARY school pupils got their hands dirty planting trees during a day focused on combating the impact of climate change.
Youngsters at Cherry Tree Academy, Colchester, were “so excited” to receive tree packs from charity Woodland Trust.
The Year 5 pupils planted trees around the school while using their maths and English skills to work out the distances between planting.
It also enabled them to see how much space the trees would need to grow and thrive in the school’s outdoor learning areas.
Year 5 teacher Cheryl Helsden said: “Cherry Tree Academy loves learning outside, it makes us active and excited.
“This ensures the children apply the core skills that have been taught and learn to use them in everyday life. “Thank you to the Woodland Trust for this fantastic gift”.
