GREATER Anglia will run a full timetable this week after planned strike action was cancelled by the RMT.

Trains will run as normal tomorrow and for the rest of the week after the decision was made by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers.

Train bosses are advising passengers still check before they travel amid “potential for a small number of short notice service alterations”.

Despite the announcement, RMT’s action affecting London Underground and London Overground services on Thursday is still scheduled to go ahead.

Jamie Burles, Greater Anglia's managing director, said: “We’re very pleased to have been able to reinstate our full service for Monday – although there may be a few alterations in the morning.

“Switching back to a normal timetable at such short notice is not a simple operation, due to the complexities of timetabling which has to be co-ordinated with other train companies and Network Rail.

“We welcome the news that the RMT has called off its strikes, it’s a positive step for the rail industry and our passengers.

“The rail industry is continuing with talks with the RMT to try to get a resolution.”

Greater Anglia’s RMT members including conductors, station staff, train cleaners, catering and revenue protection teams, were due to strike yesterday and on Wednesday.

The train provider stated talks are also ongoing with the other rail industry trades unions to reach agreements and bring the period of industrial action to an end as soon as possible.
