A MAN who downloaded “horrific" images of babies and toddlers being sexually abused has been jailed for six years.

Sentencing Alexander Hutton, Judge Emma Peters said the images found on his mobile phone included a two year-old girl crying and holding a teddy bear as she was sexually abused.

“There was a catalogue of absolutely horrific abuse on your device,” said the judge.

Hutton, 56, formerly of Colchester and now of Burlington Road, Ipswich, admitted three offences of making indecent images of children, three offences of distributing indecent images of children and causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

In addition to being jailed, Hutton was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

The court heard police executed a search warrant at Hutton’s home in Colchester on April 27 and seized his mobile phone.

A secure folder was found on the phone and officers accessed the file after Hutton provided them with the PIN, said Gareth Hughes, prosecuting.

The file was found to contain 23 indecent images of children and 69 videos in the most serious level A category, nine images and 26 videos in category B and 31 images and 14 videos in the lowest level C category.

Mr Hughes said there were some extremely young children who were showing signs of pain and distress in the images and videos .

He said there was also evidence that Hutton had distributed two category A videos, four category B videos and one category C video.

The court also heard that police found a five minute recording of an eight to nine-year-old girl live streaming herself to a group of people who were watching and interacting with her as she undressed and performed sex acts.

Mr Hughes said that Hutton had made full admissions to police following his arrest.

Lynne Shirley for Hutton said the offences were committed at a time when he was isolated and lonely.

She said he was ashamed and remorseful for what he had done.
