AN initiative set up to support people struggling with the cost of living is getting closer to opening its own premises.
The Tiptree Community Fridge, started by Michelle Olley, 49, from Tiptree, is looking to open its own premises by the end of the year.
The group has been supplying parents with free school clothes from donations at the start of each term and half term.
Once the group's permanent residence is open, school uniforms can be accessed daily as well as free food in the village.
The community fridge will have a stall at the early Christmas fair in the Tiptree Community Centre on Sunday, November 14, from 9.45am to 1pm.
The event is being held to raise money for the Mencap charity, which supports people with learning disabilities.

Mrs Olley said: “I am really looking forward to the fair.
“I hope to see many of our volunteers there as well as lots of our followers too, if only to come along to support this incredible cause.
“Refreshments will be available along with cakes for sales, raffles, hampers and lots of fantastic craft stalls with gifts for Christmas all for Mencap.”
