PARENTS are on red alert after a woman stood outside a primary school and allegedly waved at children and took photographs.

Friar’s Grove Primary School’s headteacher Susan Shipp stated she is aware of an incident which took place near the Colchester site on Tuesday.

The Gazette understands a dark haired woman attempted to interact with the pupils in Upland Drive and it is said she took pictures of the premises.

Mrs Shipp insisted the school remains a safe place for its students and safeguarding responsibilities are followed “extremely seriously.”

She said: “We are aware of an incident involving a member of the public outside the school on Tuesday afternoon.

“The matter has been reported to the police. I’m satisfied all safeguarding policies and procedures, as set out by the local authority, were adhered to.

“No pupils were placed in risk of physical harm by the actions of this person.

“I want to assure parents Friar’s Grove Primary School is a safe school.

“The safety and wellbeing of all our pupils is of paramount importance to us and we take our safeguarding responsibilities extremely seriously.”
