PICTURES show traffic building in Colchester as A12 improvement works caused disruption throughout the soon-to-be city.

Vehicles on the London-bound A12 travelled slowly from the Crown Interchange at Ardleigh to Marks Tey’s junction 25.

It is understood the delay is due to roadworks at Marks Tey where a 50mph limit is in place.

Motorists were spotted queuing to join the major route at the JobServe Community Stadium, backing up towards Ipswich Road.

The effects were also felt in the centre of Colchester, with traffic built up in St Andrew’s Avenue and slow movement between Colchester Road and Colne Causeway.

The eastbound Cowdray Avenue was disrupted, as well as from Westway to St Andrew’s Avenue.
