SEASONAL shoppers both young and old will be able to embark on a magical journey through a winter wonderland as part of a futuristic and immersive experience.

Culver Square Shopping Centre and the Colchester Business Improvement District have joined forces to bolster the city’s festivities by launching a virtual reality sleigh ride.

The special attraction, located next to The Fragrance Shop, will see eight passengers at a time explore Santa Claus’ secret headquarters alongside chief navigator Dash.

The Christmastime excursion, which will take place in a physical sleigh and see visitors don VR headsets, will be realised by a range of motions and surround sound.

Dave Robertson, centre manager at Culver Square, said: “We are very excited to bring the magical sleigh to Colchester.

“By mixing traditional Christmas décor with virtual reality technology, we will offer a fully mesmerising experience which will make your visit with us truly magical.”

The virtual reality sleigh ride will officially open on November 16, with guests being able to jump aboard on weekends and during the city’s late-night shopping events.

Sam Good, Our Colchester BID manager, added: "We're very excited to be delivering the magical VR sleigh ride in Culver Square.

“We can't wait to enjoy a magical Christmas with you."

Tickets, costing £6 for an adult and £4 for a child, or £15 for a family of four, can be purchased by visiting culversquare.co.uk/magical-vr-sleigh-ride.
