A MAN was left with an injured face before a teenager was rushed to hospital following two separate attacks in Colchester
A man in his fifties suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries during a disturbance in Slug and Lettuce in High Street on Saturday evening.
Hours later two teenage boys received wounds to their heads during a second assault in Gavin Way, Highwoods.
Police officers are now hunting those responsible for the incidents which put two people in hospital.
At this stage the crimes are not linked and are being treated separately by detectives.
They are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attack in Slug and Lettuce at about 9.30pm to come forward and help their investigation.
A police spokesman said: “If you were at the venue, have any details regarding the incident or have video footage then please do contact us.”
At 1am on Sunday two teenage boys were then assaulted by a man who they say was part of a group of four other men.
Colchester police inspector Stuart Austin said tackling violence is a priority for Essex Police.
He stated: “We do understand people’s concern following these two incidents at the weekend.
“I would like to reassure people that these are isolated and that Colchester is a safe place for people to live, work and visit.
“The risk of being a victim of violent crime in Colchester, and across the county, is very low.”
Castle ward councillor Mark Goacher has now moved to further reassure residents who want to enjoy Colchester’s night time economy.
“The vast majority of time there is no problem. It is rare and overall you are unlikely to encounter any problems,” he said.
“You do get this sort of thing happening in cities, it’s not just an issue in Colchester.
“All my sympathy goes to those who have been injured. I was shocked and obviously concerned when I heard what had happened.”
The councillor urged those with any information to get in touch with the police to aid any investigation.
