A HEAVY metal band praised for its “atmospheric and passionate” live performances will shake a city centre music venue to its core next month.

Moonspell, founded in 1992, will perform at Colchester Arts Centre, in Church Street, on November 29, following a support slot from Esoterica.

The head-banging five-piece, described as being “Portuguese gothic metal visionaries”, are visiting the city as part of a tour celebrating their 30th anniversary

Throughout the show they will rip through a set of made-up of songs from their underground debut EP Under the Moonspell and their legendary album Wolfheart.

Tracks from their follow-up record, Irreligious, will also be played, as well as songs from their latest albums, Hermitage and From Down Below.

A spokesman for the event said: “Moonspell became one of the most recognizable voices of European metal, adding to the history of worldwide heavy metal music.

“The band has never stopped touring and delivering new and different music, keeping their huge fan on the lookout for atmospheric metal and passionate live shows.

“In 2021, they have released Hermitage, that was acclaimed by the fans and the press, as one of the best albums of the year.”
