COLCHESTER shoppers have so far reaped the rewards of a Halloween-themed app.

The app-based Trick and Treats trail is offering discounts and goodies in the city centre this week.

It has so far proven to be a hit for thousands of shoppers and families looking for a free activity during the October half-term.

Running until Halloween, the Trick and Treats app is free to download, giving visitors the chance to uncover free rewards and goodies as they scan QR codes.

Participating locations on the Halloween trail include the Mercury Theatre, Fenwick, Bill & Bert’s, Emmaus, Dice & a Slice, Colchester Library, Pirates and Princesses, the Natural History Museum, Paperchase and many others.

Katie Skingle, director of KAT Marketing, who designed the app, said: “We’re really pleased people are enjoying the experience. It’s great fun and, even better, it’s completely free.

"So many emails and comments about visiting places they’d never been before – or having come into town just to do the trail and ended up eating and buying.

“Were really pleased to see it drive footfall into the city centre at this time of year.”

The Trick and Treats app is free and available to download from both Apple and Google Playstore stores More information about the project can be found at bit.ly/3smPRAW
