AN Essex MP has announced she will be backing Boris Johnson in the leadership race as he has a “proven track record”.
Priti Patel, MP for Witham, has confirmed in a tweet that she will be back the former Prime Minister Boris Johnson to take the role again.
She was the Home Secretary from 2019 to 2022 while Boris Johnson was the Prime Minister.

Ms Patel believes Mr Johnson can “lead Britain to a stronger and more prosperous future”.
She said: “I am backing Boris Johnson to return as our Prime Minister, to bring together a united team to deliver our manifesto and lead Britain to a stronger and more prosperous future.
“Boris has the mandate to deliver our elected manifesto and a proven track record getting the big decisions right.
“I am backing him in the leadership content.”
